Not Giving Up but Come On Already
First of all, I want to brag on myself a little. My friend and I signed up and ran a 5K yesterday. I did a 5K in November and I did it in like 40 min. or so. I believe a 5K is 3.1 miles but I’m not completely sure. Yesterday, I did it in 33min and 56sec.. I jogged most of it and walked very little. I am a little sore today. I also went to the gym last night and did some strength training (back and biceps) and I rode the stationary bike for 28 min. I am proud of myself for improving my time and hope that my next 5K will be even better.
The problem is that I feel like I am working really hard and the scale is not reflecting it. My clothes are not really fitting much different either. I work out a minimum of 4 days a week. I strength train at least 3 days a week. I work back/biceps one day and chest/triceps another day. I do lighter weight and 15-20 reps because I don’t want to bulk up just tone. I also do cardio whether it be the bike, elliptical, or the treadmill. I started working out seriously in Sept of 07. I am 5′4″ and I was weighing 227 pounds. I lost about 40 lbs right away by early Dec. Since then however, little to no progress. I haven’t dropped any clothes sizes since December. I have lost 10 lbs between Dec and now but for as hard as I feel like I am working, it just doesn’t seem right. I am at 176 lbs now but that is still way too much for my height. My eating has improved also. I eat pretty healthy and I usually give myself one cheat day per week. Oh, well! I will stop complaining. I am going to continue on this weight loss journey and hopefully soon I will start losing again. If anyone has any ideas, let me know. I am open for any suggestions. Sorry this sounds kind of whiny :)
